Data Center and ACI – Senior Network Engineer -T3
The Sr. Network Engineer leads complex projects involving the planning, design, installation, and level 3 technical support of ACI, Datacenter technology solutions with a focus on but not limited to network stability, scalability, and compliance. The Sr. Network Engineer responsibilities are to plan, configure, implement and document solutions in a complex environment to support new and existing technology architectures. Makes decisions independently on Information Systems solutions, problems and methods. The knowledge and expertise required at this level of work usually results from progressive work experience in large enterprise or retail environments.
General Requirements:
- Based on broad objectives from Management, technical staff and end users, design solutions to complex technical problems. Identify, define and analyze complex problems and provide solutions which require a high level of ingenuity and innovativeness.
- Recommend strategies for the continued improvements in the reliability and scalability of assigned network systems/platforms (includes trouble ticket resolution and network service availability). Responsible for developing appropriate monitoring tools comparison matrices for assigned platforms.
- Review, recommend, coordinate and implement designs and analysis related to specific area of responsibility. Prepare plans for installation or migration of new systems. (includes network analysis, design, and build phases).
- Ensure that departmental and standards are documented, designed, distributed and updated on a regular basis for assigned applications/systems/platforms. Implements IT Security best practices.
- Ensure assigned applications/systems/platforms are recoverable in the event of a disaster, emergency or testing sequence. Maintain DR consistency within IT and ensure adherence to corporate DR plans.
- Manage in-scope networks and systems in accordance with the formal change management procedures and processes.
- Provide timely status reports regarding projects and activities
Extensive knowledge of the following:
- Extensive knowledge of Multi-Pod and Multi-Site ACI design, implementation, and support
- Tenant constructs
- Application network profiles.
- Contracts
- Fabric access policies
- L2 extensions
- Routing and L3 policies
- Scale requirements around policy design
- Familiarity with Automation: Postman, Ansible, Python (is a preferred skill)
- Application migration to ACI fabric – Working knowledge is preferred.
- Hands on post sales deployments and expert troubleshooting
- Traditional and cloud based F5 products, Application Security solutions
- Working knowledge of Citrix products.
- Technical Pre-sales Consulting when required
- Will provide level 4 support as the final point of escalation and run with issues until the point of resolution
- Supporting in rota shifts plus 24/7 On Call support when needed Qualifications:
- Hold and active F5 Certification: 101, 201, 301, 401 (strongly preferred, but not required)
- Troubleshooting traffic flows via underlay and overlay
- Strong Documentation skills
Working knowledge of the following:
- Multi-vendor routing and switching experience
- Cisco IOS & NXOS implementation Experience.
- SDx working knowledge.
- MPLS
- Network infrastructure design and incident response
- Network infrastructure security incident response
- Quality of Service (QOS)
- Packet capture, analysis and troubleshooting tools
- Network Management and monitoring tools such as NetMRI, CA Spectrum, SNOW, PRTG etc.
- SNMP Protocol knowledge
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/CE, CIS, or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
- At least 8-10 years of Experience in the relevant industry in total.
- 7 years of experience in an IT operations environment with technical experience in distributed technologies and systems development
- 2 years of infrastructure engineering experience working across multiple domains, platforms, or specialty areas in ACI, and auxiliary DC technologies.
- 2 years of experience leading projects with or without direct reports
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field
- 2 years of work experience in an IT role requiring interaction with senior management (i.e., Director level or higher)
- 3 years of experience working in a large support 24/7 operations organization
- 3 years of experience working with third party IT vendors and/or systems solution providers
- 3 years of experience writing technical documentation in an infrastructure development environment
- 3 years of IT experience in the financial/PCI industry
- Cisco Certification DCACI
