Payments Optimization Specialist – Alternative Payment Methods

As a Payments Optimization Specialist with a focus on Alternative/Local Payment Methods
(APMs) Optimization, you will be responsible for improving the performance and user
experience of non-card payment solutions, such as Pix (Brazil), OXXO (Mexico), UPI (India),
and many others in emerging markets. Your role will involve understanding the intricacies of
local payment methods, uncovering optimization opportunities, and influencing design to
improve the payment experience and maximize approval rates.

Key Responsibilities:
● Analyze performance metrics across multiple APMs and identify areas for improvement.
● Collaborate closely with local payment providers and PSPs to optimize transactions.
● Conduct in-depth investigations into payment rejections or churn and recommend
solutions.
● Work with merchants to align on best practices to improve acceptance.
● Provide input on UX improvements for payment flows, enhancing customer experience.
● Monitor regulatory changes and market trends that may impact APMs.
● Design and run experiments to validate optimization hypotheses.

Requirements:
● 5+ years of experience working with alternative/local payment methods or PSPs.
● Familiarity with APMs such as Pix, OXXO, UPI, Boleto, or similar.
● Strong sense of design and user experience, with the ability to recommend UX
improvements (though not a designer role).
● Exceptional problem-solving skills with a focus on root-cause analysis.
● Proficiency with data tools like SQL and Excel for performance analysis.
● Collaborative mindset, with the ability to influence partners and merchants effectively.
