Payments Optimization Specialist – Cards

As a Payments Optimization Specialist with a focus on Card Payments Optimization, you will be responsible for maximizing approval rates across our card network operations. You will leverage your deep expertise in card networks (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) or card acquirers to analyze, recommend, and implement strategies that improve transaction success rates.

This is a data-driven and investigative role, requiring strong problem-solving skills and proactive
collaboration with internal teams, partners, and merchants.

Key Responsibilities:
● Analyze approval rates and decline patterns to identify opportunities for optimization.
● Collaborate with card issuers, acquirers, and networks to drive improvements in
authorization performance.
● Partner with merchants to recommend strategies to enhance card acceptance rates.
● Develop a deep understanding of market nuances that impact card payment
performance.
● Perform root-cause analysis to investigate declines and propose solutions.
● Collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to rapidly design experiments and
validate optimization strategies.
● Monitor trends in card networks and regulatory changes that may impact transactions.
Requirements:
● 5+ years of experience in card payments, preferably with a card network (Visa,
Mastercard) or card acquirer (Fiserv, Stone, Adyen).
● Deep understanding of how card payment networks, interchange, authorization, and
settlement work.
● Proven track record of maximizing card payment approval rates.
● Strong analytical skills and proficiency with data manipulation tools.
● Ability to influence partners, vendors, and internal stakeholders with data-driven
recommendations.
● Excellent problem-solving and investigative skills.
